Mid Ulster Ladies 0-6 Glentoran Women

Wed, 26/04/2023 - 22:38

Glentoran Women hit six goals without reply past Mid Ulster Ladies at the Mid-Ulster Sports Complex.

Caragh Hamilton got the Glens off to the perfect start when she ran onto a through ball to round keeper Lilie Crooks and slot into the bottom right corner.

The visitors doubled their advantage midway through the first half when a scramble in the box from a corner ended with Nadene Caldwell turning the ball home.

Demi Vance struck the woodwork a short time later but it took two Kerry Beattie finishes early in the second half to settle the game as a contest.

Bobby Burns has been voted Glentoran 'Player of the Year' for 2022-23 by the club’s supporters. Castlereagh GSC organised the vote at Saturday’s home game and Bobby came out on top with an outstanding 66% of the vote. He will be presented with his award by Castlereagh GSC officials at an early opportunity, depending on whether or not we are in the European playoffs after Saturday’s game. Bobby has scored ten goals from midfield this season in his 43 appearances.

Terry Devlin  was runner-up in his first season with Glentoran, with Rhys Marshall third..

This highly deserved award is Northern Ireland regular Joely's second individual award of this stature as last year she won the Ulster Footballer of the Year Award. Joely , who turns 21 next week has been at Glentoran since she was 8 years old.

Congratulations to Emily Wilson who was also in the three player shortlist and to Terry Devlin who was shortlisted for the men's Young Player of the Year award.

Glentoran 3-0 Coleraine

Sat, 22/04/2023 - 19:53

A first half goal blitz from the Glens and an unfortunate but serious looking 74th minute injury to Coleraine’s Adam Mullan dominated this second consecutive 3-0 Glentoran victory at the Bet McLean Oval.

Rodney McAree had unsurprisingly named an unchanged starting line up from last week’s win over Cliftonville, but a James Singleton knock in the pre match warm up meant Bobby Burns moving to left back in his place, with Hrvoje Plum returning in midfield.
