Academy News: Glens boys with IFA in Portugal

Congratulations to the four Glentoran Academy players who were selected to go to Portugal with the Irish FA JD Academy to take part part in a week-long training camp in Faro, Portugal.

The lads chosen were Jayden Charnley, Jack Faloona, George Feeney (son of Warren) and Darragh McCann.

High spot of the trip so far was the Northern Ireland U15 v the U18 side of Portuguese second division side Louletano DC where NI drew 1-1 with George Feeney scoring the equaliser.

Well done lads.

Peamount United 0-5 Glentoran Women

Glentoran Women fired back after a tough couple of weeks in the strongest possible manner in County Dublin today with this very comprehensive win over Peamount United in the second group match of the inaugural Avenir Sports All Ireland Cup.

The Glens couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge as Peamount currently sit six points clear at the top of the League of Ireland Women's Premier Division, But just one change was made from Wednesday’s League Cup defeat as Kelly Bailie was called into the defence for her first start of the season.

New Signing: Daire O'Connor joins Glens

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce the signing of forward Daire O’Connor from Ayr United.

Daire (26) has been with Ayr in the Scottish First Division since the summer of 2021, following a very successful spell at Cliftonville. He started his career with UCD then played for two seasons in the League of Ireland Premiership before joining the Reds.

Update on Euro Draw: Glens off to Malta

The draw for the first qualifying round of the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League has paired Glentoran with Gzira United FC of Malta. We look forward to welcoming our opponents to East Belfast.

The first leg will be away on Thursday 13th July (kick off 7pm local time) with the return a week later at the Bet McLean Oval (kick off 7.30pm).

Watch all Glentoran media channels for information on ticket sales, supporter numbers, etc for both legs.

Cliftonville Ladies 3-0 Glentoran Women

Glentoran Women crashed out of their second domestic cup in nine days with this heavy defeat at Solitude tonight.

The Glens were at full strength tonight and in a scoreless first half had a couple of efforts on the Reds goal. Top scorer Kerry Beattie was blocked in a one on one with the Reds keeper Rachel Norney. Norney was the home side’s hero again five minutes later with a brilliant save from a Jess Foy free kick.

New Signing: Welcome Josh Kelly

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Josh Kelly.

Josh (24) joins after four years with Ballymena United, the last as captain. While at the Showgrounds Josh was a regular as United qualified for three Irish Cup Finals and he was in the starting lineup for all three. Prior to that move he played for Ards for a number of seasons.

Contract News: New deal for Bobby

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that our Player of the Year Bobby Burns has signed a new contract with the club.

Since joining the club – initially on loan - in September 2020  , Bobby has made 96 first team appearance for the club, scoring 10 goals, all of the goals coming last season when he became an established member of the midfield. He has established himself as a key player at the Bet McLean Oval and a fans’ favourite and has committed himself to Glentoran despite significant interest and offers from a number of clubs in England and Scotland.

Glentoran Women 1-1 Wexford Youths Women

Glentoran Women entertained Wexford Youths Women at the Blanchflower Stadium in the inaugural match in the Avenir Sports All Ireland Cup. A first half opener from top scorer Kerry Beattie wasn’t enough to give the Glens a win in this pretty even match.

The Glens had a full-strength starting line up with Joely Andrews back after missing Tuesday’s County Antrim Cup defeat through injury.  

Glens sign up with Castore

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce Castore, as its official kit partner from the 2023-24 season.

Castore is one of the world’s fastest growing sports brands. It has supplied Rangers since 2020 and its growing client list includes Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa in the Premier League in England.

Castore will be worn by Glentoran Men, Women and all Academy teams.
