GlensTV caught up with key personnel following yesterday's 3-0 pre season win over H&W Welders.
Second half goals from Niall McGinn, Rory Donnelly and Rhys Walsh gave the Glens their victory in this pre season friendly at the Blanchflower Stadium this afternoon.
Glentoran: McCarey, Wightman, Singleton, McCullough, Wilson, Burns, Marshall, McGinn, R. Donnelly, O’Connor & Junior
Subs: Webber, Walsh, Locke, Boyd, Russell, Brennan, White, McCartan, Kelly, McLaughlin & Jenkins
Congratulations to Glentoran U21 player Conor Haughey who has signed a full-time professional contract with English League One side Fleetwood Town.
Conor first joined the Glens Academy as an eleven-year-old in 2018. His progress at the club was so rapid that at just 15 years, three months and eight days, he became the youngest ever player to feature for the Glentoran first-team when he came on as sub v Lisburn Distillery in the County Antrim Shield last December.
Conor is the younger brother of former Crusaders, Cliftonville and Larne winger, Marty Donnelly.
There was an excellent turn out and a festive atmosphere at the Blanchflower Stadium on Wednesday evening for Marcus Kane’s testimonial game against Scottish Premiership side, St. Mirren. Players and officials from both sides provided a guard of honour for the Glentoran skipper as he entered the field of play with his daughter Mollie at his side and son Bowie in his arms.
Glentoran Women FC is both sad and proud to announce that our forward Caragh Hamilton has joined Lewes FC, who play in the full time English Women’s Championship.
Caragh is synonymous with Glentoran. She came through the ranks at the club, made her first team debut at a young age and has won countless with us. She also established herself in the Northern Ireland senior squad and was very unlucky to miss last season’s Euros through injury. She was one of the seven Glentoran players to be named yesterday in the squad to face Scotland and Czechia next month.
A resolute Glentoran Women secured their second away win over Linfield in a month this evening but were made to work for it.
With Saturday’s All Ireland Cup hat trick hero Caragh Hamilton unavailable, Annie Timoney returned to her familiar right back position with Demi Vance moved into a left midfield role.
The Glens got off to a positive start when Joely Andrews gave them a fifteenth minute lead. But the Blues didn’t appear too rattled and within five minutes were themselves holding a 2-1 lead with goals from Riley Marks and Sienna Leckey.
Congratulations and good luck to the seven Glentoran Women players selected by Northern Ireland Interim Northern Ireland Women manager Gail Redmond for forthcoming away friendlies v Scotland in Dundee on 14 July and Czechia in Opava on 18 July.

Nifl today released the Sports Direct Premiership fixtures for 2023/24 season.

Don’t forget, the skipper’s Testimonial Match v SPFL side St Mirren takes place this Wednesday at the Blanchflower Stadium (Kick Off 7.45pm).
