Larne 0-0 Glentoran

Fri, 12/08/2022 - 23:42

It was honours even at Inver Park tonight as the 2022-23 Danske Bank Premiership got underway. There were few clear cut chances in the game with Larne probably shading the first half and the Glens looking the better side after the break.

John Crossen: A Tribute

Thu, 11/08/2022 - 21:06

Sam Robinson pays a warm personal tribute on the passing of former Glentoran Chairman John Crossen.

I came across a short film clip about a week ago. It has just been released as part of BBC Northern Ireland’s BBC Rewind series, an online archive facility which allows the viewer to transport themselves back in time through thousands of hours of BBC film footage. As would be the case with most people I know, the first name that I typed into the search engine was that of our beloved football club Glentoran.

Linfield Ladies 0-4 Glentoran Women

Thu, 11/08/2022 - 00:02

Glentoran Women's 100% run since returning from the Euros break continued tonight with a comprehensive win over Linfield at Midgley Park tonight.

The Glens showed just one change from  Friday's cup win, with Emma Higgins replacing Ashleigh McKinnon in goal. There was a very welcome return to the bench for Northern Ireland star Caragh Hamilton, recovering from a long term injury that caused her to miss the Euros. Caragh played the second 45 and emerged unscathed from the experience.

Obituary: John Crossen

Tue, 09/08/2022 - 20:49

Glentoran Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Chairman John Crossen.

John served on the Glentoran Board during the 1970s and 1980s and was Chairman for much of our incredible run of Irish Cup victories in the 1980s. He was Vice Chairman for our undefeated League Championship win under Ronnie McFall in 1980-81 season. John also served as President of the Irish League.

The club sends deep condolences to the family of this great club servant – his wife Eleanor, daughters Julia and Joanne and the rest of the family circle.

Lisburn Rangers Ladies 3-4 Glentoran Women

Sat, 06/08/2022 - 00:30

The Glens survived an early scare and a late comeback from Lisburn Rangers tonight to extend their four year hold on the Electric Ireland Women's Challenge Cup 2022 in tonight's Round Two match in Lisburn this evening.

Euros star Nadene Caldwell equalised a fifth minute opener on the stroke of half time. Skipper Jess Foy put the Glens a.head after the break. Further goals from Caldwell and the recently returned Kerry Beattie appeared to make the game safe before Lisburn gave the travelling support an edgy last ten minutes with two quick goals
