Player News: Singo Signs In

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of James Singleton from Glenavon.

James (26) has spent his entire career to date at Mourneview Park, having formed a very youthful and effective partnership with Rhys Marshall as they came through the ranks together. He won an Irish Cup winner’s medal in 2014 as an 18-year-old, has played in Europe for Glenavon on a number of occasions and was captain last season

Squad announcements

The following players will be leaving Glentoran on the expiry of their contracts next week:

  • Dillon Powers
  • Robbie McDaid.

Mick McDermott said of the three departing players:

“Bigi has been a top professional during his time at Glentoran. His personality is infectious, and I can say that he had a positive impact within our squad. Bigi now is considering options as far as Asia, Middle East and Africa. We wish him every success in his next step.

Obituary: Bertie Wright

At the request of family members, Glentoran FC has been asked to announce the death of legendary Glens player Bertie Wright. He was 102.

After a short illness, Bertie passed away peacefully at Craigavon Area Hospital on Saturday afternoon surrounded by his family. Bertie was predeceased by his wife Peggy and daughter Dolores.

Transfer News: Ross off to Carrick

Ross Glendinning has left Glentoran after a season at the Bet McLean Oval to join Carrick Rangers.

Ross said of his move: "I achieved a dream of playing for Glentoran, and although I didn't play as often as I wanted, I'm proud to have been a Glentoran player. But I just want to play football and I'm very pleased to be given the opportunity to do that with Carrick Rangers."

Signing News: Mike Argyrides Signs

Glentoran’s fourth summer signing is Mike Argyrides, who signed today in time for the start of pre-season training tomorrow.

Canadian goalkeeper Mike spent last season with Larne in the Danske Bank Premiership, having previously played for Vaughan Azzurri in his home country and a brief spell in East Belfast with Dundela.
