Community News: Terraces Not TV Launched

Glentoran Social Partnership is proud to announce the Terraces Not TV ticket donation programme in association with the recently announced 140 Club. This program provides deserving non-profit and community groups with the opportunity to obtain complimentary tickets for a Glentoran FC home fixture. Organisations that work with under-served populations and participate in community service or educational activities are eligible to apply.

Glentoran Women 1-0 Crusaders Strikers

A first half strike from international midfielder Chloe McCarron’s first half goal was enough give the Glens a win tonight against a resilient Crusaders Strikers at Ashfield.

Glentoran remain one point behind leaders Cliftonville in the Danske Bank Premiership table with the Reds having a game in hand v Sion Swifts. .Our next Premiership is at home to Linfield Ladies next Wednesday (26th October) at Ashfield.

When the club announced a Testimonial Season to celebrate and reward skipper Marcus Kane’s decade at the Bet McLean Oval, Marcus spoke passionately to the Belfast Telegraph of his love for Glentoran. If any evidence was needed that the love was reciprocated, it was made clear when hundreds of the extended Glentoran Family and friends gathered at Belfast's Europa Hotel on Saturday 15th October to share in a very special event – Moko’s Grand Testimonial Dinner.

Glens had the bulk of the attacking play in an otherwise fairly even first half, though there were few real goalscoring opportunities for either team.

Joely Andrews opened the scoring on fourteen minutes when bravely faced down the keeper by rising to head home. The Glens’ other best effort came just on the break when a long range Caragh Hamilton effort went just wide.

Glens stretched the lead on 49 minutes when the legendary Kelly Bailie hit an incredible long range free kick past ex-Glens keeper Lauren Currie in the Linfield goal, giving her no chance.

Glentoran Women scored their second ten goal haul in tonight’s Danske Bank Women’s Premiership game at the Brandywell.

Skipper Jess Foy opened the scoring on eighteen minutes while further goals from Jen McDade, Caragh Hamilton and Imogen Lancaster took the reigning champions into a four-goal half time lead.
