The Challenge Cup Committee met this afternoon to consider the arrangements for the semi-finals of the Irish Cup. Both games will be played on Saturday 21st March 2014. Please see below the agreed kick-off times/venues.

Ballymena United –v- Portadown
The Oval, Belfast
KO: 5.30 p.m.
The Committee also agreed that the admission prices for both games would be £12 for adults and £7 concession.

On an already soft and cut-up Oval pitch on Saturday, Glentoran and Dungannon fought for a place in the semi-finals of the Irish Cup through torrential rain and gale force winds, with the east Belfast side showing their class to come out 3-0 victors. Manager Eddie Patterson saw the in-form Stevie Gordon and Jordan Stewart ruled out through suspension, though Willie Garrett started in defence and Jim O'Hanlon made the bench as they both returned from lengthy injury spells.

This weekend sees Glentoran face Dungannon Swifts at the Oval in the quarter-final of the Irish Cup. The Glens have reached this stage following wins over Ards (2-1) and Armagh City (4-1) whilst the Swifts, following a 4-1 home win over Ballinamallard Utd, needed a penalty shoot-out to overcome Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park in the last round.
