It’s matchday 18 in the Danske Bank Premiership and Glentoran, following last week’s deserved draw at Glenavon, can move up to 7th in the table should they beat Ards and Dungannon Swifts lose to Crusaders.
When the two teams met in Bangor earlier in the season it was newly promoted Ards, then occupying 3rd spot in the table, who took all 3 points with a comfortable 2-nil victory. Glentoran were in 9th spot, a position they still occupy. Roy Coyle was in charge for that fixture, the game coming just a few days after Alan Kernaghan’s resignation.
Another jam packed edition of Northern Ireland's top match day programme goes on sale at tomorrow's game against Ards. As well as all the usual features and news from around the Oval there's an interview with Glentoran chaplain David Thompson, the third part of Brian McClelland's story of Glentoran legend Sammy Hughes and Roy Downes tells the tale of Glentoran's first American born player. Talking of things American look out for the announcement of a major event to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Detroit Cougars next year. Don't miss it!
Glentoran U20s got back to league action following Saturday's 5-1 defeat to Ards Rangers in the Intermediate Cup.
Glentoran had a chance early in the game following good work from Karl Hamill, Kris Gaw's 25 yard strike going just over.

Glentoran got a well deserved point at Mourneview Park on Saturday as Jay Magee's second half equaliser ensured Gary Haveron's men travelled back to Belfast with a share of the spoils.
