Dream start for Glens Women

Glentoran Women got their season off to a fantastic start tonight as as they ran out 20-0 winners over Belfast Celtic in the County Antrim Cup. Glens U16 players join up with Northern Ireland

Five Glentoran players have been picked by Stephen Frail for the 20-strong Northern Ireland Under 16 development squad for a three-game challenge tournament in Bulgaria.

The squad will take part in a development tournament run by UEFA over a 10-day period.

The first competitive action will be a game against Luxembourg on Saturday (April 13) at the Hadzhi Dimitar Stadium.

They then take on Wales in the second game at the same venue in Sliven on Monday before rounding off the tournament against hosts Bulgaria at the Hadzhi Dimitar Stadium next Wednesday.

Academy players step up to senior Glens Women squad

Glentoran Women have an incredible record of bringing through academy youngsters every season, and this year is no different.

Congratulations to Aimee-Lee Peachey (above), Joely Andrews, Danielle Maxwell, Kerry Beattie, Katie Stanfield and Olivia Marshall who have recently received squad numbers for the 2019 season.

At the tender age of only 16 years old, the required age to play senior womens premiership football, some of these girls joined the squad midway through last season as soon as their birthdays fell suit.

Goals from Curtis Allen and Darren Murray gave Glentoran a valuable 3 points today at Stangmore Park.

With Gavin Peers serving a one match suspension and Robbie McDaid aggravating an injury in the pre-match warm up, Mick McDermott was forced to make several changes to the starting line up for this crucial game against Dungannon Swifts.

Player of the Month for Paul and Lewis

Consistent hard work and two excellent opening goals have earned Paul O'Neill a clear win in the Supporters Glentoran Player of the Month vote for March.

With Darren Murray initially suspended, Paul came into the starting line up at Ballymena between Curtis Allen and Robbie McDaid and opened the scoring with a great finish and followed up last week with a very different opener, a very convincing header that gave the Cliftonville keeper no chance.
