Tomorrow night we entertain Dungannon Swifts in the Danske Bank Premiership.
Having endured a very difficult start to their campaign, Dungannon Swifts have started to find their feet in this season’s League campaign, with Saturday’s win over Glenavon at Stangmore Park taking them 12 points clear of bottom placed Portadown and within a point of tenth placed Newry as Dean Shiels’ side look to haul themselves out of the relegation playoff position.
Northern Ireland international Niall McGinn is Beth Stafford’s cover star for Tuesday night’s Glentoran Gazette against his former club Dungannon Swifts. Another Swifts old boy, new Glens boss Rodney McAree, warns that Dean Shiels’ team have individuals who can hurt any team and says that the Glens, even after a good performance at Newry at the weekend, are not in a position to take any game lightly. Rodney also tells the match programme that he is very much the boss while we tell why he is fondly remembered at a cross-channel club.
Goals from Niall McGinn and Jay Donnelly (2) gave 10 man Glentoran victory at the Newry City Showgrounds in today's Danske Bank Premiership fixture. In what was Rodney McAree's first game in charge of the East Belfast side, we made a great start and led 2-nil at the interval. An early Newry City goal in the second half, quickly followed by the dismissal of Paddy McClean threatened to derail the Glens but following a second Jay Donnelly goal the team dug in and thoroughly deserved to come away with the 3 points.

The Rodney McAree era begins in earnest tomorrow night when we travel south to the Showgrounds to play tenth placed Newry City.
Since the sides last met at the Showgrounds back in October, Newry City have exited both Cup Competitions (most recently the Irish Cup at home to Championship strugglers Harland & Wolff Welders) and endured a wretched run of form in the Premiership.
Majority Shareholder Ali Pour and GRC Board of Directors are pleased to announce Rodney McAree as our new Manager with an 18-month contract.
The Directors of Glentoran recognise that our performances on the pitch have fallen below what is acceptable to the club and our fans. Our duty is to address this urgently.
We understand the frustration and concerns. This does not however give anyone the right to break the law or make our ground an unsafe place for fans and officials. Incidents of violence, criminal damage and threats of harm occurred after yesterday's match that are totally unacceptable.
A 63rd minute goal from Lee Bonis settled today's Danske Bank Premiership game at the Bet McLean Oval.

Larne were given a welcome boost with Saturday’s comfortable 3-0 home win over Amateur League side Crumlin United in the Irish Cup but the one time leaders have been patchy in their league form in recent weeks; picking up victories at home to struggling Newry and away to Glenavon but only 1 point from home games against Coleraine and Carrick and, most recently, suffering a costly 2-1 defeat at Solitude to new League leaders Cliftonville to put them 3 points behind Paddy McLaughlin's side, albeit with a game in hand.
