New Signing: Welcome Leon Boyd

We are delighted to welcome forward Leon Boyd as our latest signing.

Leon (17) has been snapped up from Linfield where he was very highly rated. He is a regular with the current Northern Ireland U17 team.

Rodney McAree spoke to GlensTV about Leon’s signing and about the progress of some of our other young players.

Ballymena Utd 1-3 Glentoran

Glentoran had to come from behind at the Ballymena Showgrounds this evening in the Danske Bank Premiership but a goal from Jay Donnelly just before the interval and two from his brother Rory early in the second half saw the side return to East Belfast with all 3 points.

We have received the following information for Glentoran supporters travelling to Ballymena for tonight's Danske Bank Premiership fixture:

Due to the temporary closure of the Ecos entrance to the Showgrounds due to the construction of a new road, there will be different parking and entrance arrangements for Glentoran supporters and buses on Friday night.

Tomorrow evening we visit Balltmena with the opportunity to avenge our New Year defeat at the Showgrounds.

Despite their progression to the Quarter Finals of the Irish Cup, Ballymena United have won just one league game since the sides last met at Warden Street on January 2nd, picking up just two points from their last five games and failing to score a goal.

Glentoran 3-0 Linfield

Everywhere else it was St Valentine’s Day, but in East Belfast it was Burns’ Night as midfielder Bobby led the way with two goals and an assist in this very comfortable “Big Two”  victory in the Danske Bank Premiership at the Bet McLean Oval.

The Glens showed just one change from Saturday’s draw at Coleraine with Conor McMenamin being given his first start since November and his serious injury.

In Tuesday night’s Glentoran Gazette Rodney McAree reveals he was disappointed at only picking up one point on Saturday despite a wonder goal from Conor McMenamin which put us in the driving seat close to the end of the game at Coleraine and adds that he views tonight’s Big Two derby as a tough task against a talented and physically strong Linfield team. Meanwhile, Jamie Megarry says Linfield are coming into the game with their tails up after a big win over Cliftonville.

A wonder goal from Conor McMenamin wasn't enough to take the points at Coleraine in today's Danske Bank Premiership fixture. The Glens had come from a goal down to take the lead with just 8 minutes remaining but a late Matthew Shevlin strike rescued a point for the Bannsiders.
