Crusaders 1-0 Glentoran

Glentoran are out of the Irish Cup after a 1-nil defeat at Seaview and whilst the scoreline suggests it was a tight game, in reality Crusaders,once they edged in front, were reasonably comfortable throughout. Marcus Kane was back following his one match suspension and Shay McCartan returned to the starting XI in place of the injured Niall McGinn. James Singleton was in midfield in place of Hrvoje Plum.

Kick Off 3.00pm

On Saturday we travel to face Crusaders in the Quarter Final of the Samuel Gelston’s Irish Whiskey Irish Cup.

The Crues are seeking to defend the Trophy after last season’s last gasp extra time win against Ballymena United. They progressed to the Quarter Finals of this year’s competition by defeating Championship side Dergview 6-0 before winning 2-1 at Premier Intermediate League leaders Bangor in the last round.

It was scoreless at the Bet McLean Oval in tonight's rearranged Danske Bank Premiership game. With Marcus Kane serving a one game suspension, James Singleton started in the left back slot with Aidan Wilson donning the captain's armband. Jay Donnelly returned after missing the Cliftonville game on Saturday but Rory Donnelly sat this one out due to an injury sustained in the Solitude fixture. Hrvoje Plum was also in the starting line up with Shay McCartan dropping to the bench.

Glentoran’s seven game unbeaten run came to an end to day as two first half Sean Moore goals condemned us to our fifth consecutive defeat to the Reds, all by a single goal.

There were four changes from last week’s win at Ballymena, with Niall McGinn and Bobby urns returning for James Singleton and an injured Jay Donnelly. Last week’s two goal hero Rory Donnelly kept his place in the starting line-up in his old centre forward role in place of his brother.

On Saturday 25th February Glentoran Fc & Cliftonville Fc join forces with Team Dot to raise funds for a wonderful little Boy. Jonathon Doran aged 5.

Jonathon was born perfectly healthy with no issues.  At 10 months old he started taking multiple infections and had many stays in hospital.  It took 3 years before he got a diagnoses.  He has a rare condition called Geleophysic Dysplasia, It effects his skeletal form, heart, lungs, skin, liver and eyesight.  Jonathon has now been on a ventilator 24/7 since December 2021.

A Century for Conor

Congratulations to Conor McMenamin on making his 100th first team appearance for Glentoran in last weekend’s away win at Ballymena.

Conor first joined the club from Linfield in the summer of 2015, joining Eddie Patterson’s Irish Cup winning squad as an out and out striker. Playing at centre forward in Curtis Allen’s absence he marked his debut with a wonder strike v MSK Zilnia Slovakia) in the Europa League Qualifier at the Oval. Conor made 23 appearances that season, scoring twice, before falling out of favour when Patterson was replaced as manager by Alan Kernaghan.
