Luke hits his century

Mon, 23/10/2023 - 23:25

Congratulations to Luke McCullough on making his 100th appearance for  Glentoran in Saturday’s home Sports Direct Premiership win over Glenavon.

Luke’s value to the team has been very clear to everyone this season  with the leadership and composure he adds to the defence and to our performances overall. He was overwhelmingly voted Glentoran Player of the Month for August and after his injury at Newry when the Glens were riding high, his four-game league absence coincided with a winless run. His return has contributed to probably our two most convincing wins of the season to date.

In this full-time role Leanne will have overall responsibility for management and delivery of the club’s commercial objectives, growing profitability and helping move the club to a greater level of self sufficiency to strengthen itself both on and off the pitch.

Leanne comes to Glentoran with a wealth of experience in these areas, having been Regional Fundraiser at the Northern Ireland Hospice.

Cup Final: Glentoran Women 3-0 Cliftonville Ladies

Sun, 22/10/2023 - 19:47

This remarkable Glentoran Women squad completed a wonderful fortnight and season at the National Stadium last night as this ultimately convincing win over Cliftonville gave them their fifth consecutive Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup and their third league and cup double in four seasons.

Kim Turner made just one  change to last week’s starting line up with Sarah Tweedie returning at right back so the Glens started out with the team that took them undefeated to the league title and to this final.

Glentoran 3-1 Glenavon

Sat, 21/10/2023 - 18:57

Glentoran continued to build upon their recent resurgence with a comfortable win over a determined Glenavon side this afternoon at The Oval. An unchanged starting XI from the recent win against Loughgall put in an excellent performance where the three points never looked like leaving East Belfast.

Tomorrow's Gazette

Fri, 20/10/2023 - 16:36

In tomorrow’s 40-page match programme Warren Feeney lauds the importance of Luke McCullough to the team but warns the side will have to reproduce the performance against Loughgall to overcome a Glenavon side settling in under new boss Stephen McDonnell. In a Gazette which features Shay McCartan as Beth Stafford’s cover star, Warren also has good news on the injury front.

On Saturday we welcome Glenavon to the Bet McLean Oval in match thirteen of the Sports Direct Premiership.

Glentoran Seconds 2-1 Linfield Swifts

Mon, 16/10/2023 - 22:46

A strong Glentoran Seconds team including a number of recovering players had a very good result against second placed Linfield Swifts at the Bet McLean Oval this evening.

The scores were even at half time after a 13th minute opening goal from George Feeney was equalised on 31 minutes.

David Fisher – fresh from his first goal for the first team on Friday evening – scored the winner with 16 minutes to go.

This will have been an encouraging performance and result with both the recovering players and young Glens all performing well.
