Match Preview: Glentoran v Carrick Rangers

Mon, 07/10/2024 - 23:20

Tuesday 8 October

Kick Off 7.45pm

Tomorrow evening we face Carrick Rangers for the first game of the new Stephen Baxter era when we meet at the Bet McLean Oval in the Quarter Final of the Toal’s County Antrim Shield.

Until this weekend’s much needed league win over Cliftonville, a resounding 4-0 win against Championship leaders Bangor at Clandeboye Park in the previous round of the Shield had been the sole bright spot of Carrick’s season since an opening day win over Glenavon.

Cliftonville Ladies 6-0 Glentoran Women

Sun, 06/10/2024 - 23:16

Glentoran’s defence of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership titles ended in an unexpected but unambiguous manner tonight as Cliftonville reclaimed the title they last won in 2022 with this routing of the outgoing champions at Solitude tonight.

Having scored just 8 goals in their previous 14 league games, the Glens were amazingly 4-0 down at half time as the Reds stormed ahead. These were followed by further goals conceded on 58 minutes and 2 minutes into injury time.

Linfield 1-3 Glentoran

Sat, 05/10/2024 - 00:30

It’s important to avoid football cliches in match reports, But that’s a bit harder when the report is about tonight’s ultimate game of 2 halves as a magnificent Glens second half performance not only avoided the much-mooted hammering but ultimately delivered a comfortable and convincing win in the first Big Two game of the season.

Declan Devine had the good news of Paddy McClean’s recovery from an ankle injury as he and Jay Donnelly returned to the starting lineup  that drew with Glenavon last week with Kodi Lyons-Foster and Djair Parfitt on the bench.

Derry City 1-6 Glentoran Women

Wed, 02/10/2024 - 22:41

Glentoran Women overcame an early goal for the home team at the Ryan McBride Brandywell with a second half performance that with 2 games left to play takes the outcome of this season’s Sports Direct Women’s Premiership right to the wire.

The early Derry lead came on 12 minutes through Tara O’Connor and they held the lead for 15 minutes. The equaliser came when Demi Vance took a corner from the right and Aimee Neal was there to equalise. Despite Glentoran pressure that’s how it stayed until half time.

Glentoran 2-0 Dergview

Wed, 02/10/2024 - 00:01

The Glens move safely through to the next round of the Bet McClean Cup this evening. A nearly completely rotated home side often found the resilient away side a tough nut to crack, but two moments of real quality either side of the break ultimately settled the tie.
Fuad Sule captained the side in the defensive midfield role, but changes were the order of the night for the starting line-up. Andrew Mills came into the net for his first home start, with Lyons-Foster, Russell, and Amos in his defence. Parfitt, Lindsay, Thorndike, and
