There was stalemate in this afternoon’s Irish Cup final dress rehearsal at the Oval.  Eddie Patterson made a number of changes to the line up that lost to Linfield in midweek, with Steven Gordon moving to right back, Jonny Addis taking up a midfield role just in front of the back four and Steven McCullough coming in at left back in place of the injured Marcus Kane.

Irish Cup final to be played at the Oval.

Fri, 10/04/2015 - 13:45

The 2015 Irish Cup final between Portadown and Glentoran will be played at the Oval on Saturday 2nd May with a 2:30pm kick-off.

Representatives from both clubs will meet with the IFA early next week to finalise arrangements.

We will have NO information on ticketing until after that meeting.

This will be the first final staged at the Oval for 20 years, the last being Carrick Rangers v Linfield in 1995.

Glens fail to hold 'Big Two' lead again

Tue, 07/04/2015 - 22:47

In a season of many positives a major failure for Eddie Patterson's side will undoubtedly be our poor results in the 'Big Two' fixtures this year. Warren Feeney's first season at Linfield has ended unbeaten against Glentoran, winning three and drawing one of the four games this year. To make matters worse for the Glens, the three times that we have taken the lead were the same three that Linfield won.

Match Preview

Mon, 06/04/2015 - 19:04

Glentoran face Linfield in the Danske Bank Premiership at the Oval on Easter Tuesday (kick-off 7:45pm), looking to bounce back from their disappointing result at Lurgan on Saturday.

The Glens have yet to win against their old rivals this season. In the three league meetings so far the Blues have come out on top twice (3-2 and 2-1) with the other game ending in a 2-2 draw.

Glenavon 4-0 Glentoran

Sat, 04/04/2015 - 21:06

It was a strange game in many ways at Mourneview Park this afternoon with the scoreline suggesting an easy win for the home side. Although Glentoran were disappointing in the latter stages of the match they more than held their own for the first hour. Ultimately the combination of not putting the ball in the net when you are on top, making unforced errors at the back and a couple of somewhat strange refereeing decisions left the East Belfast Glens with nothing to show for their afternoon's work.
