Glentoran ensured that October's league record remained without defeat after they withstood a Cliftonville onslaught in the final minutes following a fiery game that saw several bizzare refereeing decisions.
The shirt Sponsorship draw for the 2013/14 seaon will take place today (26/10) in the McLeans Suite at 5.30PM.
Shirts are still avalible for sponsorship priced at £150. Please contact Ruth in the superstore before 4pm to get a place in the draw.
We are delighted to announce that JT Inspires Trust has been nominated as Glentoran FC’s official club charity for 2013-14 season.
Jonathan Tate was among the 180 children born each year in Northern Ireland with congenital heart disease. He died last October aged 22, following transplant surgery.
The Glens face the Reds for the third time this season with the visitors having won the previous two encounters. In both games Cliftonville started well and got their noses in front. Glentoran fought back but were then caught on the break and lost both games by 3 goals.
Since the 4-1 defeat of Glentoran at Solitude on 14th September, the Reds have lost to Glenavon (1-0), drawn with Dungannon Swifts (1-1), lost to Crusaders (0-2) and drawn with Warrenpoint Town (1-1). Their only league victory during this period was a 2-0 win at Ballinamallard Utd.
We welcome last season's champions Cliftonville to East Belfast on Saturday and also hope to continue our recent form.
The Premier Lounge is open from 12:30pm and we will have live coverage of the lunchtime Premier League game featuring Crystal Palace v Arsenal. Following this game will be live exclusive coverage of Glentoran v Cliftonville at 3pm and we finish the day with El Classico when Barcelona host Real Madrid (kick off 5:30pm). For the duration of this match we will have a 'Happy Hour' with all usual offers for members available.
We fully understand that some of our supporters may have concerns arising from the recent BBC report on DCAL funding of football stadia in Northern Ireland.
It would not be helpful for our club to respond directly to this report at this time nor to become publicly involved in what is essentially a matter for our politicians and for the IFA. However, we can reassure the broad Glentoran family that the Board continues to actively pursue its objective of securing a new stadium for Glentoran in East Belfast, thereby ensuring the club’s long-term future and success.
As part of an on-going project by the social media teams to let fans learn more and interact with players, we are now launching payer profiles. Other events such as player Q/A’s have taken place recently on twitter with a great response from fans.
Player profiles will contain some basic information about the player such as date of birth, previous clubs etc. Not all players have a profile yet but the majority are there.
