Glentoran are competing in the inaugural NIFL Academy Development Leagues this season taking place at under 16 and under 18, bringing these two age groups under the NIFL banner for the first time along with the U20 Development League.
We already provide you with regular match reports on our U20 team here on Glentoran.com and will endeavour to bring you up to date news and reports from our 16s and 18sas the season progresses.
Our under 18s, managed by Michael McClelland, have a very different look about them than last season's under 18s.
It was a draw which felt like a defeat.
Glentoran, leading from a 14th minute goal from John Herron and with the home side reduced to 10 men after 52 minutes, were unable to see the game out. But for the heroics of Elliott Morris in the final minute of stoppage time it could have been an even worse journey home for the travelling supporters.
First Trust Bank sold a historic debt owed by Glentoran Football Club earlier this year. This was done without any formal warning. Club shareholders were formally informed of this at the company AGM in June. Shareholders were also informed at the AGM of the actions in place to ensure the debt would be fully repaid by the club in an organised and structured manner.
The club was shocked that First Trust took the arbitrary decision to ignore its societal obligations by selling this historic debt without consideration for the impact of the decision on the community in East Belfast.
Glentoran Women's eight game winning run finally came to an end tonight with a 5-3 home defeat by Linfield Ladies at The Oval, a result that clinched the leagiue championship for Linfield but which still leaves the Glens in runners up position with just one gam,e to play.
We have had some fantastic ground hoppers attend The Oval from we started doing ground hopper tours in August. With visitors from countries such as Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Scotland to date.
The popularity continues to grow from week to week with tours for our matches against Linfield and Ards fully sold out. We have a lot of history in our great beauty of a ground, something that people from far and wide are willing to come and see.
Warrenpoint Town v Glentoran
Saturday 29 September 2018, Kick Off 3pm
On Saturday we stay in County Down for our first visit of the season to the Q Radio Arena.
Although Warrenpoint are currently bottom of the Danske Bank Premiership they have recently rallied after a very difficult start to the season and late goals in their last two matches gained them a draw at Newry and an excellent home win over Cliftonville.
Hot on the heels of their victory in the Electric Ireland Women's Irish Cup Final four days ago, Glentoran Women firmed up their second place in the league table tonight with an outstanding 13-1 rout of Portadown Ladies tonight.
The Glens goals came from Caragh Milligan (5), Rachel Rogan (4), Sarah Gamble, Joely Andrews, Demi Vance and an own goal.
A full report will follow on the Women's Team News section.
The Board of Directors of Glentoran wish to offer their deep and sincere gratitude to the members of the Dundonald Glentoran Supporters Club for their very generous donation of £2,000 before yesterday's home game with Institute. This is another example of the loyalty, dedication to the Glentoran cause and hard work put in by the committee and members of this long established supporters club and is fully appreciated by everyone involved at Glentoran.
