Glentoran travelled to Ballinamallard United looking to book their place in the semi-final of the Wasp Solutions League Cup. Despite the atrocious weather conditions of late the Ferney Park pitch was in superb condition and the Ballinamallard groundsman deserves immense credit for that.
Glentoran FC held a short Remembrance Service prior to yesterday's match at the Oval. It was led by the Rev. David Thompson (Club Chaplain) and Glentoran officials, members of the Glentoran Academy and representatives from the Irish Guards also took part.

There was heartbreak for Glentoran fans at the Oval this afternoon as a 2-0 lead after 11 minutes was squandered to see Glenavon go home with the points. Not surprisingly after last week’s performance against Ballymena Eddie Patterson named an unchanged side and it looked as if we were in for more of the same as the Glens took the lead with just a couple of minutes on the clock. A Niall Henderson free kick was swung into the Glenavon area, goalkeeper Alan Blayney came flying off his line but Curtis Allen was first to the ball and directed his header into the empty net. Glenavon arrive at the Oval tomorrow afternoon in 5th place in the Danske Bank Premiership, one place and three points ahead of Glentoran. With both clubs sharing a +8 goal difference, a win for Glentoran would see them climb above the Lurgan Blues in the table.
An act of Remembrance will take place ahead of tomorrow's Danske Bank Premiership fixture against Glenavon at the Oval.
The Rev. David Thompson, our club Chaplain, will lead a short service starting at 2.20pm. This will take place at the Directors' entrance.
Chairman, Stephen Henderson will lay a wreath on behalf of the club and the ode of remembrance will be recited. Representatives from the Glentoran Academy will also participate by laying wreaths.
There will be a minute's silence prior to kick off and the players will all wear armbands during the game.
Glentoran FC are delighted to announce Disability Action as their Charity for the Season 2014 – 2015. Speaking at the launch event, Glentoran Director Bill Manson said “We are pleased to be associated with this organisation and the excellent work Disability Action is doing to support individuals with a wide range of disabilities fulfil their full potential. I know we have a number of supporters who have benefitted from their services as well as some people who have been involved as carers or volunteers”
Internet GSC will be running a supporters' bus to Ballinamallard on Tuesday 11th November leaving the Park Avenue at 4pm.
We will be stopping en route for refreshment (optional).
