Everyone at Glentoran was saddened to hear of the death this week of former playetr Jackie Hutton.
Jackie joined the Glens under the management of the legendary John Colrain in 1967. While at the Oval he won two League Championship medals. Jackie played 87 times for Glentoran, scoring 19 times before joining Portadown in 1970. He later both captained and managed the Ports. As a manager Jackie's greatest achievement was leading Cliftonville to the Irish Cup in 1979.
We offer our deepest condolences to the Hutton family and to Jackie's many friends in the local game.
Glentoran Academy’s annual presentation day took place this past Sunday at La Mon Hotel and it turned out to be a great occasion with around 500 people in attendance to celebrate what has been yet another record breaking season for our Academy.
The event opened with a fantastic presentation by our club Chairman, Stephen Henderson who used his time in front of the Academy players and their parents to remind everyone of the great and illustrious history of our club and the exciting future that lies ahead of it with these young players at the forefront of that vision.
We will be holding a free Car Boot Sale at the Oval tomorrow (Saturday 16th May) from 10am until 1pm. No fees charged for cars or vans selling, but donations will not be refused.
Gates open at 9.45am.
The Oval Superstore will be open and selling Irish Cup Final memorabilia and will also have the Irish Cup on view for you to have your pictures taken.
