Victory Shield

Mon, 02/11/2015 - 12:41

Glentoran would like to extend our best wishes to Northern Ireland U16 as they commence their Victory Shield campaign at 2pm on Sunday against the Republic of Ireland in Wales.

This years Victory Shield has a different look to it as it is without England, Sunday's opponents the Republic of Ireland taking their place. The tournament also will take place at one venue across one week as opposed to the traditional home and away fixtures.

This year's tournament will take place in Wales at the Welsh FA's Football Development Centre in Newport, Dragan Park.

Smith Forges Ahead

Mon, 02/11/2015 - 12:36

To the casual onlooker, this season has been an up and down one so far for Glentoran Academy - scratch just below the surface however and revealed is a fast tracked system to the top of the local game.

A bold statement perhaps but the emergence of Jonathan Smith into first team football and the selection of five players for next week's Victory Shield speaks for itself.

It was back to the future again as Roy Coyle stepped into the manager's role at Glentoran for today's trip to face basement side Warrenpoint Town.

Coyle made just one change to the starting line up with Steven Gordon moving from midfield to right back and Conor McMenamin starting in place of George Gray. The formation though was 4-4-2 with McMenamin joining Curtis Allen up front.

Match Preview

Fri, 23/10/2015 - 16:43

Glentoran begin life without Eddie Patterson as they travel to Warrenpoint Town tomorrow.

While the board look for their next appointment, Director of Football Roy Coyle will take charge of team affairs.

In the meantime, the attention will be diverted back onto the pitch tomorrow as the Glens are in contention to win two league games on the bounce for the first time this season.

Danske Bank Premiership strugglers Warrenpoint Town play host to the East Belfast side, and will be looking to capitalise on Glentoran’s distraction off the pitch.
