A Cherished Belfast Legacy
Detroit City fan Stephanie Quesnelle on the Cougars commemoration game
"It’s unusual to me meeting a foreigner who thinks highly of Detroit. Maybe in days gone by, they would hear Detroit and think of Motown, cars, and the American Dream. More recently, the blight, bankruptcy, and corruption of our city make headlines. When I was abroad, I’d say I was from Detroit and get questions like:
•Do you have black friends?
•Have you ever seen someone shot?
•Do you own a gun?

Back at the Fisher Building
They say you should never go back.....but those who have made the trip to Detroit to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Detroit Cougars would beg to differ.
This morning we were back at the site of the Howard Johnson Hotel where the original party stayed. The Hotel is long gone but the iconic Fisher Building is still there, on the next block.
We took the opportunity to take a few more photographs with Stephen Henderson, Roy Coyle, Tommy Jackson and Billy Sinclair taking the roles of Arthur Stewart, Billy McKeag, John Colrain and Bimbo Weatherup.
Back in Detroit
Glentoran Football Club were back on a football pitch in Detroit for the first time in 50 years.
The squad spent 2 hours at the Keyworth Stadium and during the session, took time out to recreate one of the iconic Couragrs team photos.
