Glentoran Women 2-1 Linfield Ladies

Fri, 19/07/2024 - 21:46

The Glens took another step towards a sixth successive Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup with this evening’s home and hard-fought win over Linfield Ladies.

The holders took the lead through a characteristic effort from skipper Jess Foy on 37 minutes and held the lead through to the break.

Just after half time the Blues equalised through Rihanna Breen and for a full 30 minutes the outcome of the tie was very uncertain. That was until, with 14 minutes left, our international midfielder Nadene Caldwell hit the winner. That gave the Glens the opportunity to give a debut as sub to our new signing Ellie Butler.

Details of the semi final draw will be published here when the draw is made.

Glentoran Women: Ashleigh McKinnon, Sarah Tweedie, Jess Foy (c), Sofie Keenan, Aimee Neal, Nadene Caldwell, Jenna McKearney, Demi Vance, Aimee Kerr, Rachel Rogan and Emily Wilson.

Subs: Kelly Bailie, Kirsten Farley, Anna Walsh, Amelie McKnight, Amy Majury, Rihanna Brady, Ellie Butler (for Rogan 78)
