With just over a month of the 2023 season left, Glentoran Women stand 3 points clear at the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership and are in the semi final of the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup (Irish Cup). So everything to play for, for this multi trophy winning squad.
Following Friday night’s 4-1 home win over third placed Sion Swifts Ladies, the Glens are now 3 points ahead of last season’s champions Cliftonville in what appears to now be a two horserace for the title. The Glens squad is the only unbeaten side in the Premiership this season, with the only dropped points coming in a 2-2 draw with the Reds at Solitude.
Remaining league fixtures for Glentoran Women are as follows:
- Friday 1st September – Lisburn Ladies (A)
- Friday 8th September – Ballymena United Ladies (H)
- Friday 29 September – Cliftonville Ladies (H)
- Sunday 8th October – Crusaders Strikers (A)
- Friday 13th October – Linfield Ladies (H)

Glentoran Women have won the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup for the past 4 seasons. Last season’s final ended in a 2-1 win over Sion Swifts, the Glens goals coming from Jess Foy and Joely Andrews. This year’s semi final is a repeat of that tie.
- Friday 15th September – Sion Swifts Ladies (Venue TBC)
So a massive few weeks ahead for the squad and their coaches, with international call-ups expected for Northern Ireland’s Nations League games with Republic of Ireland in Dublin and Hungary at Seaview in the week before the Cliftonville game.
This team is great to watch, They play their home games at Ashfield School, so as they go for their third double in four seasons all the support they can get from the Glentoran Family will be more than welcome.

28 goal Kerry Beattie
