Another great run out for the younger Glens players today ended in a good win over our local neighbours East Belfast at Tillysburn this afternoon.
The Glens took a two-goal lead into the half time break. The opener came in the first minute with a deflected shot from recent first team signing Josh Kelly. This was followed eight minutes before the break with an unstoppable thunderbolt from skipper Marcus Kane.
The second half was a tighter affair and there was no more scoring until the final minute when Aaron Wightman – an example to all Academy players of what can be achieved – finished to make it three for the visitors.
Our final pre-season friendly is away to Portadown at Shamrock Park next Saturday (Kick Off 3pm). Then the Sports Direct Premiership opens for us with a trip to Mourneview Park to face Glenavon on Saturday 5th August.
