It was international goalscorers all the way at Inver Park this evening as Glentoran Women maintained their 100% Sports Direct Women’s Premiership record with their third consecutive win and clean sheet,
The starting line up was the one that beat Mid Ulster Ladies last week and again the Glens got off to a quick start as NIFL Player of the Year Joely Andrews opened the scoring on 10 minutes for her fifth goal of the season. This was followed by two deft finishes from the equally in form Kerry Beattie and a penalty area strike from Northern Ireland midfielder Nadene Caldwell to send the visitors in 4-0 ahead at the break.
Caragh Hamilton added to the tally four minutes after the restart and Caldwell struck her second of the night eight minutes later. Hamilton then got her second to finish the evening’s scoring with nineteen minutes to play.
Whatever twists and turns lie ahead over the course of the season, The Glens – with 24 scored and none conceded in their first three games – have certainly laid down a very strong marker of intent at this early stage. Its certainly encouraging to see how widely the goals have bee spread between forwards and midfielders so far.
