Glentoran Football Club is delighted to welcome Desi Curry to the club in the role of General Manager.
Desi will lead and manage all football operations after spending five highly successful years with the Gibraltar Football Association (2017-2022)
During his time with Gibraltar Desi played a key role in the running of football on the 'Rock' as the nation rose up the FIFA world rankings.
Desi, a pro license coach, was instrumental for the introduction and development of all football strategies, processes and procedures in the Gibraltar FA, and was a tireless force in improving all grassroots and elite player pathways.
Before setting off to Gibraltar, Desi also served as Technical Director for the Irish Football Association (2009-2013) and subsequently was employed with UEFA and FIFA as a Technical Observer and Coach Education expert (2013-2017).
Chairman Ian Kerr said: "Desi's appointment is a key part of our objective to be top of the league off the pitch as well as on the pitch. Desi brings a wealth of experience in administration and management of football at all levels of the game. This is very valuable to us, and we welcome him to the Glentoran family."
Desi Curry commented: "I’m really delighted to be appointed Glentoran Football Club General Manager. We are now moving in a very exciting direction. New aspirations and expectations, along with a long-term vision for this historic Club are now becoming a reality. I am both humbled and honoured to accept this post. As part of my remit, I will endeavour to put in place procedures and strategies that will propel Glentoran forward, drive revenue off the pitch and put a 'team behind the team' to enable our coaching staff and players to achieve maximum success. As a young boy and all the way through my early career, I grew up around Irish League football, I fully understand the historical legacy at Glentoran, and the tremendous support within the local and wider community. Glentoran is already a massive Club, but the potential for even greater success is a hugely motivating factor, not just for me, but for everyone associated with the Club. Working together, and embracing the challenge, I have no doubt that within a short period of time, everyone associated with this great Club, can once again achieve the footballing success that they crave and fully deserve!!
Le Jeu Avant Tout"
