9 Internationals in the Berlin Squad

Yet more fantastic news has come to light regarding our highly talented Youth Academy. The Under 13 squad now consists of no fewer than 9 Northern Ireland International players, all of whom have been called up to represent their country at the Milk Cup and Galway Cup in July and August. Whilst the call-ups will have an impact on the boys plans to defend their Foyle Cup crown, this can only be seen as a remarkable achievement for both the players and the Academy.

The players called up are as follows: -

1.       Paul McLaughlin (GK)

2.       Lewis McGarvey (CB)

3.       Ethan Warnock (LB)

4.       Mal Smith (CB)

5.       Jamie Marlin (MF)

6.       Eoin Brown (MF)

7.       Ben Cushnie (MF/ST)

8.       Ethan Galbraith (ST)

9.       Barry Baggley (MF)

Of the list above Ben Cushnie, Ethan Galbraith and Barry Baggley have all been across the water on trials with several top flight English clubs, more recently Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool. And over and above the list of players mentioned, Sean Gallagher (RB) and Matthew Strain (ST) both turned out for Nottingham Forest on Saturday past in a tournament.

All of these players, along with Myles Murray, Peter McCreery, Niall Grimley, Joseph Shevlin and Jack Reilly who have all been involved in the NI set up and had trials themselves at some point over the past 2 years, make up the Under 13 squad who depart for Berlin in a fortnights time to compete in the Under 13 UEFA Cup, having qualified as All-Ireland Champions!

A special feature will appear on that shortly. But for now, many congratulations to the boys on their International call-ups and for doing our great club very proud yet again.
