Glentoran 6-1 East Belfast

Glentoran's 100% record in pre season was preserved tonight with a 6-1 win over our neighbours East Belfast at the Oval.

The first half was scoreless but once Mick McDermott team switched to an unfamiliar formation with three at the back, the floodgates opened with goals from Stevie Gordon, Andrew Mitchell (another 2, bringing his close season total to 6 in 4 games), Rory Donnelly (his third in pre season), Dale Gorman and a first Glentoran goal from Gael Bigirimana>

Happy Birthday Cecil

Many Happy returns to lifelong Glenman Cecil Calvert, who turns 97 today.

Cecil was for many years a sheet metal worker at the Scirocco Works, Harland & Wolff, Shorts and PX Nuclear.

Cecil has been a Glenman from his teens to the present day, travelling home and away to support the team in all weathers.

Happy Birthday Cecil!

 

 

Glentoran vs East Belfast Supporter Information

Entry to this game is restricted to HOME supporters ONLY who are in possession of a 2020-21 Glentoran Season Ticket, purchased on or before 17th September 2020 and those supporters of East Belfast holding a valid ticket/pass.

NO other supporters will be admitted. East Belfast supporters should enter the stadium via the 'Guest Gate' in Parkgate Drive and once inside, proceed to the Railway Stand.

Glens Women star in Northern Ireland away win

Congratulations to the SIX Glentoran players who were invoved in Friday evening's 0-6 away win by the Northern Ireland senior team the Faroe Islands in Torshavn.

Nadene Caldwell and Jackie Burns were in the starting lineup while Sam Kelly, Caragh Hamilton and Joely Andrews were second half substitutes during the win. Kerry Beattie was an unused sub. Our former star players Demi Vance (Rangers) and Lauren Wade also played a big part in the win.

Conratulations everyone. A great credit to our club.

Glentoran 7-0 H&W Welders

Wearing the new all red change strip for the first time, Glentoran's positive pre season performances continued today as braces from Andrew Mitchell and Cameron Stewart and goals from Rory Donnelly, Jamie McDonagh and Stevie Gordon gave the Glens a comfortable 7-0 win over our close neighbours Harland & Wolff Welders at the Oval this afternoon.

Glentoran 3-1 Portadown

Glentoran continued a series of pre season friendlies with a comfortable  3-1 win over Portadown at the Oval on Tuesday night. A first half penalty from the outstanding Paul O'Neill, and goals after the break from Andrew Mitchell (his second in consecutive matches) and Mal Smith (playing in midfield) helped the Glens renew an old rivalry in a successful manner. In a game where no quarter was asked or given, star men Robbie McDaid and Paddy McClean both left with injuries in the first .

Jay Donnelly

Glentoran Football Club has today completed the signature of forward Jay Donnelly.

The Coaching Staff and Directors of Glentoran are fully aware that speculation surrounding this signing in the past week has caused debate within our supporter base. The club is fully aware of the issues in Jay’s past and would like to clarify the situation.
