Sion Swifts 0-3 Glentoran Women

Thu, 06/05/2021 - 00:04

Champions Glentoran  Women eased to a three-goal win at Sion Swifts thanks to a 15-minute hat-trick from striker Kerry Beattie.

The Northern Ireland international hit a quickfire treble between the 63rd and 78th minute to secure Billy Clarke’s side the points - the equivalent fixture last season saw the only match in which the Glens dropped points in a shortened campaign, when they went down to a 4-3 loss.

The first half was a cagey affair with few clear-cut openings for either side, before the game was decided by Beattie’s goals.

Obituary: John Parkinson

The Directors of Glentoran Football Club were deeply saddened to hear of the passing this afternoon of lifelong Glenman and former Club Chairman, John Parkinson.

John was a long-standing active member of the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923), the oldest Glentoran Supporters Club and long-time producers of the Glentoran Gazette. 1923 Chairman Jimmy Carter kindly submitted this obituary on behalf of his friends in the club. All these sentiments and warm memories are shared by all who knew John at all levels within Glentoran.

Glentoran 1-1 Coleraine

Tue, 04/05/2021 - 22:58

There was just one minue of the 90 remaining when Stephen Lowry's deflected shot went past Rory Brown in the Glentoran goal to earn the visitors a point. It keeps Coleraine in second spot in the Danske Bank Premiership table with just 3 games remaining.

With Marcus Kane out injured, the Glentoran defensive unit had to be reshuffled with Rhys Marshall at right-back, Paddy McClean wearing the captain's armband at left-back and Luke McCullough partnering Caolan Marron in the centre. There were starts too for Seanan Clucas and Andrew Mitchell.

Match Preview: Glentoran v Coleraine

Mon, 03/05/2021 - 23:36

Tuesday 4th May 2021 Kick Off 7.45pm

This will be a shorter match preview than usual as due to the vagaries of Covid-19 lockdown and a bad winter, Glentoran tomorrow night face Coleraine for the third time in three weeks in this second post-split game. With Oran Kearney’s men one place and one point ahead of us in second place, there is little margin for error from either side in the last stages of the quest for an automatic European place for 2021/22.

Glentoran 0-0 Linfield

Sat, 01/05/2021 - 18:12

It was stalemate at the Oval this afternoon with chances few and far between as the Danske Bank Premiership's top two met.

Glentoran made just one change to their previous starting line up, Dale Gorman coming into the midfield in place of Chris Gallagher.
