Glens Success in Northern Ireland Boys' FA Cup
Glentoran Academy claimed a memorable double yesterday at the Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt at the annual NIBFA Cup finals day. Our U12s and U15s both won their finals 2-0 as the U12s claimed their maiden tournament win in the NIBFA Cup and our U15s landed an incredible fourth NIBFA Cup in five seasons. Our U16s are yet to compete in their final – which was delayed due to International call ups – as the Academy goes in search of a hat-trick.
Prior to last Saturday's fixture against Crusaders, 3 players were presented with their '250 Club' passes.
Glentoran FC Chairman, Stephen Henderson, made presentations to Colin Nixon, Paul Leeman and Jason Hill.
Between them the three players had amassed 1718 appearances for the club.
Jason Hill - 327 appearances
Glentoran closed out the NIFL Premiership season with a 1-0 defeat at home to Crusaders today at The Oval. Alan Kernaghan made three changes to the side that lost to Glenavon a week ago bringing in Jonny Smith, Barry Holland and Jonny Addis with Steven Gordon, David Scullion and Chris Morrow dropping out. Crusaders arrived in East Belfast with a much rotated squad having already clinched the Premiership title with two games to spare.
Glentoran welcome newly crowned Danske Bank Premiership champions Crusaders to the Oval on Saturday.
The match will bring a close to the domestic campaign, but the season is far from over for the Glens who are still in contention for a spot in Europe via the play-offs.
Although the league has already been wrapped up for Crusaders, tomorrow’s encounter could help Alan Kernaghan’s men rediscover the form that they'd shown before the Linfield defeat.
The UEFA Europa League qualification play-offs will take place on the following dates
Semi-Final(s)
Friday 6th May (7.45pm)
Match 1 - 4th place vs 7th place (if Ballymena United finish in 7th position)
Match 2 - 5th place vs 6th place
Note - If Dungannon Swifts finish in 7th position, Match 1 will not take place and Cliftonville will advance to the Europa League Play-off Final.
Final
Tuesday 10th May (7.45pm) Winner of Match 1 vs Winner of Match 2

Glentoran supporters have voted Curtis Allen as their 'Player of the Year' for 2015-16.
The voting, organised by Castlereagh GSC, took place prior to last Saturday's Danske Bank league fixture against Glenavon.

Curtis topped the poll with Barry Holland coming second and Marcus Kane third.
Saturday saw Allen play his 100th game for Glentoran. He has 47 goals so far, including 21 this season.
Glentoran fell to their second defeat of the week as Kevin Braniff’s second half goal gave Glenavon the three points. There were several changes to the Glentoran line up with Calum Birney coming into centre back, winger Chris Lavery starting and long term absentee Kym Nelson returning to the midfield.
