Tonights game v Derry City has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch
We are sorry to report the death of Eric Graham, a long standing member and past Chairman of the Cookstown Glentoran Supporters’ Club.
The Tyrone men are a fantastic example of committed supporters, making a minimum 90 mile round trip to East Belfast, week in and week out in all conditions and irrespective of team form. Eric has always been prominent among them and will be sadly and deeply missed by all of his travelling friends.
Current Cookstown GSC Chairman, Michael RJ Wilson said today:
A defining day in Glentoran's season and probably in some of the players' Glentoran careers. With 6th placed Glenavon facing Crusaders and 7th placed Dungannon Swifts hosting Linfield it was likely that, with a victory, Glentoran could close the gap on the two teams immediately above them. Indeed as things turned out, a win would have left Glentoran just 3 points behind Glenavon with the Lurgan blues visiting the Oval in two weeks time.
Look out for another bumper edition of the Glentoran Gazette at tomorrow's game. Our history men Brian McClelland and Roy Downes look back at Irish Cup controversy from almost a century ago and a more recent unsung hero, Philip Stevenson gets in on the act and compares our two American tours and there's a look at some of our dedicated volunteers around the Oval. News, views, stats and photos complete yet another first class read. Don't miss it!
The Chairman, Directors and all at Glentoran FC express their sorrow at the death of lifelong supporter, Victor Shaw from North Belfast. Victor tragically passed away in a single vehicle collision on the Westlink on Wednesday afternoon.
Deepest condolences are extended to Victor's sons Michael and Christoper and to the entire family circle.
Le Jeu Avant Tout.
Hot off the press! Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that the Glentoran Academy were the winners of the inaugural EASTSIDE AWARD for CONTRIBUTION TO SPORT (sponsored by Charles Hurst & Fleet Financial) at a Gala Ceremony in The Stormont Hotel this evening. More details later.
Danske Bank Premiership
Glentoran v Ballinamallard United
Saturday 28 January 2017, 3pm.
Glentoran welcome Ballinamallard United to the Oval for our third meeting in this season’s Danske Bank Premiership.
Glentoran will be welcoming Kenny Shiels and his Derry City squad to the Oval for a friendly match on Friday 3rd February at 7.45pm.
Glentoran and Derry City have enjoyed a strong relationship for many years. We look forward to welcoming our friends from the Brandywell. Derry finished third in the 2016 SSE Airtricity League.
Two early goals from Stephen O'Flynn set Glentoran on their way to three points at Clandeboye Park.
On a perfect January evening for football, a sizeable travelling support made their way to Bangor in the hope of eradicating the misendeavours of the last few weeks and securing three points ahead of the pack playing their fixtures the next day.
A win for Ards would also see them leap frog the Glens in the league, with a Glentoran victory therefore a must.
