Young stars commit to Glentoran

On their appointment four days ago, Ronnie McFall was at pains to emphasise the importance that he and the new management team will place on providing a clear pathway for our best Academy players to make their way into first team contention. As Ronnie said, "that's always been the Glentoran way".  With that in mind seven of our all conquering Under 18 squad this week committed their futures to Glentoran for next season. That follows on from Paul O'Neill, James McCarthy and Cricky Conn (now with Burnley) all featuring with the first team at the end of the season.

Gazette wins Programme of the Year yet again

Congratulations to the team responsible for the Glentoran Gazette as our match programme this weekend won the Northern Ireland Gazette won the Northern Ireland Programme of the Year for a remarkable 18th consecutive season. Votes are cast by the members of the Northern Ireland Football Programme Collectors' Club and the award was presented by NIFPCC Chairman David Hand. Runners up were the programmes from Cliftonville and Linfield.

Glentoran FC announces that Aaron Harmon, Alex O’Hanlon and Tre Sterling’s contracts have expired and they will not be offered renewals. The following players have been made available for transfer: Eoghan McCawl, Tiarnan McNicholl, Corey McMullan and Conall Delaney.

Jonathan Addis, Jonathan Smith, James Knowles and Kym Nelson have also left the club on expiry of their contracts.

Robbie McDaid has signed a two year contract extension that will keep him at the club until May 2020.

New Management Team for Glentoran

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the new management team for the club.

Ronnie McFall has accepted the club’s offer to continue as team manager for the forthcoming season with two Glentoran legends joining the management team in senior positions.

Gary Smyth (Assistant Manager) has joined from Harland & Wolff Welders on a three year contract.

Glentoran Women FC Announce New Kit Sponsor

Glentoran Women FC are delighted to announce a new sponsor for the 2018 season away kit. DigiVibe Media is a name that many Glentoran fans should already be aware of, they are the brains behind GlensTV, our official YouTube Channel and content creator. DigiVibe have been at the forefront of video content at Glentoran Football Club since 2014 and are looking to bring that expertise to the Womens side and promote not only the club but the players involved.

Billy Spence

All at Glentoran were sorry to learn this morning of the death of our former Chief Scout, Billy Spence.

Billy made an immeasurable contribution to the club’s successes over the course of four decades with the steady stream of legendary players he brought to the club. He also enjoyed great success as manager of Glentoran Colts.

The Directors and officials of Glentoran send deepest condolences to Billy’s widow Davina, son John and the whole family circle at this sad time.

More glory for Glens Academy teams

Glentoran Academy had another very triumphant weekend with three more trophies won.

The Under 14 team (pictured above) won the League Cup on Saturday, beating Linfield 5-1 in the final to seal a memorable treble for the second season in a row. The goals flowed against the Blues for the second time in a week as Callum Marshall and Charlie Lindsay were again on the score sheet with two 2 each. Elliott Wood was the other scorer on a day where Charlie Lindsay again grabbed the Man of the Match awards from the tournament organisers for an amazing 5th final in a row.

 

Cliftonville 3-2 Glentoran

A late strike from Joe Gormley gave Cliftonville a 3-2 win over Glentoran in today’s Europa League playoff final at Solitude. Goals from Robbie McDaid and Curtis Allen saw the Glens fight back from 2- 0 down but Gormley’s late winner denied them a place in next season’s Europa League.
