Glentoran made a successful start to defence of the Toals' County Antrim Cup with a 3-1 home win over Linfield at Ashfield tonight.
The game was pretty much over as a contest by half time as the Glens went into the break with a 3-0 lead. The Mortgage Shop Player of the Match Emma McMaster opened the scoring from 25 yards after 23 mins. Three minutes later saw a repeat from Nadene Caldwell from the same spectacular distance. Home scoring was completed nine minutes late when striker Rachel Rogan finished from close in following a cross from skipper Jess Foy.
The Glens continued to dominate the game without creating any clear cut chances. Linfield got a consoluation goal from Keri Halliday late onwith a 22 yard strike that beat Ashleigh McKinnon in the Glentoran goal.
