A youthful Glentoran Select XI was narrowly beaten 2-1 by Dundonald FC on Saturday afternoon at the Billy Neil Centre of Excellence in the Carol Preston Memorial Cup.
The match was held in support of the Friends of the Cancer Centre, with Glentoran fielding a squad made up of Reserve and Colts players, including several who featured in Friday night’s 1-0 win over East Belfast.
Dundonald opened the scoring in the first half before James McClure brought the Glens level shortly after the break with a well-taken finish.
Despite a positive team performance and competitive display throughout, Dundonald found a late winner to edge the contest.
The match provided valuable experience for a young Glens squad and contributed to a fantastic occasion in support of a very worthy cause.
