Glentoran is product to confirm that four players from our Glentoran Women squad have been called up for the Northern Ireland senior women’s national team ahead of a crucial UEFA Women’s Nations League double-header against Romania.
Among the call-ups is 18-year-old midfielder Aimee Kerr, who has received her first senior international cap after an impressive rise through the Northern Ireland youth pathway. A former captain of both the U17 and U19 sides, Kerr replaces her Glens teammate Chloe McCarron, who misses out due to injury.
Joining her in the squad are Nadene Caldwell, Emily Wilson, and Kascie Weir who all retain their places in Tanya Oxtoby’s 23-player panel after featuring in last month’s opening Nations League fixtures.
Northern Ireland currently sit second in League B Group 1, three points behind leaders Poland. The upcoming fixtures - away at the Stadionul Arcul de Triumf in Bucharest on Friday 4 April, followed by the return leg at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park on Tuesday 8 April - represent a vital opportunity to maintain momentum and stay in contention at the top of the group.
