Simon Kitchen has been co-opted onto the board of Glentoran as commercial director with immediate effect. Simon brings a wealth of commercial experience from his career to date and will be tasked with being responsible for all commercial activity at the club, from dealing with kit suppliers, advertising internally and externally across all media platforms, to hot food vendors and much more. He will also be tasked with forming a 'Commercial Team' comprising of willing volunteers from across our supporter base. We wish him every success in the role.
Bill Manson has been appointed as our Community Relations Officer until such times as we are in a position to convert this role into a paid position, subject to funding. Bill has been asked to proactively engage with schools, community and voluntary groups across greater East Belfast and North Down and to begin a process of inviting such groups to the Oval on match days as the guests of GFC. Bill will manage and facilitate such visits and will work when applicable, alongside the club chaplain in any way the board determine appropriate.
Grahame Jenkins will become the director responsible for all Academy issues. He will also arrange for a greater integration of the Academy teams into the match day environment at the Oval. Grahame will liaise with Ray Alexander and the Academy Committee to provide oversight on all player trials in advance of them happening, participation in tournaments and friendlies, disciplinary issues, the integration of girls football and players into the Academy and will work with Simon on any commercial opportunities that may present themselves from within the Academy.
