Glentoran Women got their 2025 Sports Direct Women’s Premiership campaign off to a flying start with a ruthless 6-1 victory over Lisburn Ladies on Friday evening at the Bluebell Stadium.
After a dominant opening period, the breakthrough came on 36 minutes when Kascie Weir latched onto a low cross from the left before driving a powerful effort beyond the Lisburn goalkeeper from the edge of the box.
Weir struck again just minutes later, this time calmly sliding the ball into the bottom corner after being played through on goal.
The Glens made it three on the stroke of half-time as skipper Jess Foy arrived at the back post to turn home from a well-delivered corner.
Half-Time: Lisburn Ladies 0 – 3 Glentoran Women
Substitute Rachel Rogan wasted no time making her mark after the interval, heading in a flicked-on set-piece just minutes after coming on to stretch the lead to four.
The visitors showed no signs of letting up, and Aimee Kerr added a fifth midway through the second half in fortuitous circumstances when a deflected effort looped beyond the stranded keeper.
Kerr then wrapped up a clinical performance with her second of the night ten minutes from time.
Lisburn pulled one back late on through Morgan Shannon, but it was little more than consolation on an evening where Glentoran underlined their title credentials in style.
